PIANC is an international scientific and technical non-political and non-profit organization.

PIANC is an acronym for the International Navigation Association (formerly Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses). Since its foundation in 1885, PIANC has been the international leader in the development and improvement of inland and maritime navigation and its infrastructure.

PIANC is:

an international network of like-minded professionals

access to state-of-the-art knowledge

a series of technical publications, conferences, seminars, etc

In Austria, the association was founded in 1971 under the name "Internationale ständige Vereinigung der Schifffahrtskongresse, Sektion Österreich", short PIANC Section Austria.

PIANC Section Austria, as is the international association, a non-profit organization. The aim of the Austrian association is to form a common platform to represent all the Austrian experts and business circles interested in the work of PIANC with regard to the Austrian legal, technical, economical and sport interests of the navigation and navigable watercourses in Austria.
