The world population is expected to reach between 8-10 billion by the year 2050. This will lead to enormous challenges in respect to moving people and products within and between countries and continents in a safe, economic and environmentally acceptable manner.
To meet these challenges, humankind will need to increasingly rely on waterborne transport, a fact which is agreed upon by many political and scientific leaders.
PIANC is committed to taking responsibility for and playing a major role in the development and improvement of global waterborne transportation. Its large number of experts in different fields of navigation, recreation and environment make it possible to develop the best solutions today, for tomorrow's global waterborne transport challenges.
